Prof. Helen Joseph (Ph.D.) started her career as a Programme Coordinator, National Service Scheme, University of Mumbai, and joined the College of Social Work, Nirmala Niketan as a faculty member in 1983 from where she retired as a professor in 2013.
Currently, Prof. Joseph is President of AROEHAN. She is also Chairperson of YUVA Urban Initiatives, an NGO working to enable vulnerable urban groups to access their rights. She is a regular guest lecturer for Tokyo University of Foreign Studies’ online program on Peace and Conflict Studies. She is also the External Expert on Medical Ethics committees of different hospitals, and External member on the Internal Complaints Committee against Sexual Harassment at the Workplace for several banks and educational institutions
She has been the founder Director of SALOKHA a project that worked on issues of communal harmony and has led a program on “Zero Tolerance for Domestic Violence” through another NGO, Creative Handicrafts. She has conducted a number of Research / Evaluation Studies and has published articles in national and international journals.
